Get to Know Our Partners: Tyner-Shorten Clothiers

Thanks to the help of its generous partners, ClothingWorks is able to be a valuable resource in its community. One of these partners is Tyner-Shorten Clothiers, owned by Richard Melhado. Tyner-Shorten Clothiers is a high-end, London-based menswear store, which focuses on “everything between the hat and the shoes.”

The store aims to give clients a unique shopping experience and a good value, emphasizing Canadian-made products. Tyner-Shorten was first involved in the ClothingWorks program five years ago. The store acts as a drop-off location for donations, and the team runs a clothing drive every October. The clothing drive, called “Old is New Again,” encourages clients of the store to bring in donations in exchange for deals on new products ($200 off of a suit, or $100 off of a jacket). Based on the donations they receive, Tyner-Shorten is able to donate multiple racks of great clothing for the ClothingWorks program.

Store owner Richard Melhado is proud of the company’s involvement with ClothingWorks. He says, “I think having a purpose for those clothes instead of throwing them out is huge. It’s just being part of the community. We’re happy to be involved in it.”
